Kirk Cousins doesn’t expect to play in Vikings’ preseason finale

If quarterback Kirk Cousins had it his way, he would be suited up every time the Vikings stepped onto the field, no matter the time or place. Even in a preseason game that doesn’t count.Maybe it’s a good thing then that head coach Kevin O’Connell has the final say. Since taking over in Minnesota before the 2022 season, O’Connell hasn’t allowed Cousins to suit up in a preseason game, and that’s unlikely to change against the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday afternoon at U.S. Bank Stadium. The rationale is simple: Why risk injury with the Sept. 10 season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers coming into focus? As much as Cousins understands that thought process, he also believes there are certain things about a game that practice can’t simulate.“There’s an argument to be made on both sides,” Cousins said. “You’ve got to be ready Week 1 regardless.”That’s why the Vikings hosted a couple of joint practice...Mayor Madden calls on public to save birth center

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Foreclosure may be in the forecast for the South End Grocery—a charitable project to provide fresh, healthy food to what had been a food desert in Albany. District 10 Legislator Gary Domalewicz chairs the Albany County Capital Resource Corporation, which is one of three lenders who provided around $200,000 to the African-American Cultural Center of the Capital Region in order to buy the former McDonald’s on South Pearl Street. He says letters went out Tuesday advising that the loan was in default."We were lenient on this. We waited seven months. I don’t know how many people that are in arrears of your own mortgage that the banks would wait seven months to start the procedure," says Domalewicz."It is a food desert down there and desperately needed and that’s the sad part of it. We were excited to help this project and make this project work," he goes on to say.The CRC's loans and mortgages are handled by the Advance Albany County Alliance. By JENNIFER SINCO KELLEHER and GENE JOHNSON (Associated Press)HONOLULU (AP) — Maui County sued Hawaiian Electric Company on Thursday over the fires that devastated Lahaina, saying the utility negligently failed to shut off power despite exceptionally high winds and dry conditions. Witness accounts and video indicated that sparks from power lines ignited fires as utility poles snapped in the winds, which were driven by a passing hurricane. The Aug. 8 fire killed at least 115 people and left an unknown number of others missing. A spokesperson for Hawaiian Electric didn’t immediately respond to an email seeking comment.Had the utility heeded weather service “warnings and de-energized their powerlines during the predicted high-wind gusts, this destruction could have been avoided,” the lawsuit said. The lawsuit said the utility had a duty “to properly maintain and repair the electric transmission lines, and other equipment including utility poles associated w...Wife of O.C. mass shooting suspect wounded in massacre
