When he gets going, it’s almost unstoppable to stop Jayson Tatum. The Knicks learned that again on Monday night at TD Garden.Tatum scored 35 points, including 23 in the second half and 17 in the fourth quarter, as the Celtics superstar continued his MVP-caliber start to the season. He was the difference as the Celtics, in a dog fight with the Knicks for most of the night, pulled away for a 114-98 victory.Jaylen Brown added 22 points and Kristaps Porzingis had 21 for the Celtics, who won their third game in a row. The C’s, like in the season opener at Madison Square Garden, struggled to find separation against Jalen Brunson and the tough Knicks, but they relied on one of their better defensive efforts of the season to turn the game around. The Celtics and Knicks traded haymakers for most of the first three quarters, neither budging before the C’s finally got some breathing room. The game was tied at 72 with 3:05 to go before the Celtics went on a 12-4 run to close the quarter, which in...‘There’s a chance’ injured Ravens LT Ronnie Stanley, CB Marlon Humphrey play Thursday vs. Bengals

Ravens left tackle Ronnie Stanley and cornerback Marlon Humphrey did not participate in practice Monday after suffering injuries in the team’s 33-31 loss to the Cleveland Browns, but coach John Harbaugh did not rule out either for Thursday’s quick-turn showdown against the Cincinnati Bengals.“Not long term; I’d say day to day,” Harbaugh said of Humphrey and Stanley’s injuries. “Hopefully, we’ll get them to Thursday. There’s a chance.”Humphrey was listed with a calf injury and Stanley with a knee injury on the simulated injury report the Ravens released because they were conducting a walk-through instead of a full practice as they began preparations for the Bengals.Injuries could be a significant subplot in this showdown between the AFC North-leading Ravens and defending division champion Cincinnati.Three key Bengals starters — wide receiver Tee Higgins (hamstring) and edge rushers Trey Hendrickson (knee) and Sam Hubba...Six abandoned homes set for demolition in North Park as church plans for future

SAN DIEGO -- Makers Church, located in a century-old church location in North Park, has big plans for the future after selling a 35,000-square foot parcel of land across from the church at Bancroft Street and North Park Way. The six homes left abandoned on the land are scheduled for demolition this week. “They've just been deteriorating and dilapidated over the past several years,” said Brittany Delacruz, who has lived In North Park for more than 10 years. Delacruz thinks anything is better than what she describes as the existing eyesore, but another group of residents hoped to stop the sale and planned development. They created a website, “STOP THE MAKERS CHURCH,” and say the church is using its religious nonprofit exempt status to be allowed to demo the homes that the groups says are historically designated, but that, says Delacruz, is not true. “A lot of these houses have been renovated so much that they probably did not have historical designation in the first place," Delacruz...Protesters take over stage, interrupt televised Scotiabank Giller Prize gala

After the well over 1,000 Israelis killed on Oct. 7, and the thousands more Palestinians in the Gaza Strip killed in the war against Hamas, it may appear unseemly to focus on the relatively small and sadly familiar clashes between settlers and Palestinians in the West Bank. But it would be a mistake to overlook the danger of the escalation in settler violence over the past month. That appears to be the calculation of the militant settlers and nationalist extremists in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government, ardent champions of expanding the Jewish presence in occupied territories. By all accounts, the number of Palestinians displaced or killed in clashes with the Israeli military have risen sharply since Oct. 7. Right-wing extremists have cited the Hamas attack as justification, but they also seem keenly aware that the diversion of global and Israeli attention away from the West Bank offers cover for more audacious land grabs. The immediate danger is that the West Bank will al...Toddlers in 14 states sickened by lead linked to tainted applesauce pouches, CDC says
