LOUIS - Wednesday is Taylor Swift's 34th birthday and for the first time, the St. Louis Public Library is joining the birthday celebrations.'Taylor Con' kicks off Wednesday at noon, where you can go shake it off at the 'Meet Us at Midday Dance Party.' As the founder of a local billiards league, Patrick McNally has spent innumerable hours in bars shooting pool and drinking beer. DETROIT (AP) — U.S. auto safety regulators say they have taken the first step toward requiring devices in vehicles that prevent drunk or impaired driving.The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced on Tuesday that it is starting the process to put a new federal safety standard in place requiring the technology in all new passenger vehicles.Such devices were required in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that was passed by Congress in 2021. 5 hospitalized after crash between train and semi-truck The agency says an advance notice of proposed rule making will help it gather information about the state of technology to detect impaired driving. A man who shot and killed two teenagers inside a Corona movie theater more than two years ago was ruled sane Tuesday by a judge after a weeklong trial and will be sentenced in February to state prison for his crimes.Joseph Jimenez Jr., 22, faces life in prison without the possibility of parole. Had he been found insane, he would have been placed in a state mental hospital.Jimenez, who said months ago in a jailhouse interview with Southern California News Group that he was diagnosed with schizophrenia, testified that he had not been taking his medications and had subsequently been tormented by voices in his head that threatened to harm him. A man accused of using a belt to attack an elderly Jewish man in Beverly Hills who was on his way to a synagogue to observe Shabbat over the weekend was arrested and charged with assault, prosecutors said Tuesday, Dec. 12.Police said Jarris Jay Silagi, 44, attacked a 75-year-old man and tried to rob his wife on Saturday, Dec. 9, running at them before hitting the man with the belt multiple times.Los Angeles County District Attorney Gascón said Silagi used enough force to leave the elderly man with severe injuries to his head.Silagi, arrested the same day as the attack, was charged with one count each of attempted robbery, elder abuse and assault with a deadly weapon.
