One teen killed, others injured in St. Louis shootings

ST. LOUIS - One person is dead, and two juveniles are hurt after a series of shootings overnight in the city of St. Louis. Two others were also shot in the violence.At this point, police have told FOX 2 that nobody is in custody in connection with any of the shootings. The police also shared that they don't believe any of the shootings are connected, even though three of them happened within about a half hour of each other and two of the scenes were only a block apart.Police got the first call just after 9:45 p.m. They rushed to a scene on Minerva in north St. Louis which turned out to be a homicide.We're told when officers arrived, they found a teen shot outside. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim has been identified as Antonio Thompson, 16, of St. Louis, Missouri.Homicide detectives have been called in to take over this investigation. ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - A Brentwood man is behind bars after he allegedly attempted to break into the building of a train collectors' club and steal a toy train.Prosecutors have charged Travis Akins, 22, with second-degree attempted burglary, possession of burglary tools and property damage in the investigation. During the latest attempted break-in, a witness called police and claimed someone was using a hammer and blow torch on the door of the building. Officers later spotted Akins in possession of both the hammer and blow torch near the collectors' club, placing him under arrest. Police also noticed damage to the main door and a lock for the building. A person died early Thursday after a motorcycle and a truck collided on a rural bypass road connecting western and central Contra Costa County, the California Highway Patrol said.The crash on on San Pablo Dam Road between Emilio Court and Terri Ann Court happened about 6:15 a.m., according to the CHP. Vilda was not among five candidates for the Best Women’s Coach Award for 2023, which did include England coach Sarina Wiegman, whose team lost the final to Spain. The candidates were picked by a FIFA-appointed expert panel that included United States great Mia Hamm.
